If you’re creating a small business website don’t forget to put some effort into figuring out how to drive traffic to your site. Both online and traditional methods of getting the word out are available even if your budget is small. Here’s a short list of things you may want to consider:
Put your web address on all of your regular small business marketing materials, for example if you run TV or radio spots, print ads or billboards be sure to put your web address on all of these materials as well as on your business cards, brochures etc. If you’re just starting out and your budget is limited that’s ok, you have to start somewhere, just be sure to incorporate your web address on everything you do.
Google adwords, Bing ads and other paid search ads and display network online advertising options are available. You only pay when a user actually clicks on the ad and visits your site so it’s fairly easy to track what you’re paying for and the budget is easy controllable. Just set a daily budget and give it a try. Of course there’s a whole world of things to consider while you fine tune your campaign but the basics are pretty easy to get the ball rolling.
If your small business already has a social networking presence be sure to inform your friends and followers about your new site through Facebook, Linkedin and Twitter, or any of the other networking sites you may belong to.
Search Engine Optimization
Search Engine Optimization or ‘SEO’ is the process of getting traffic to your site from the “free,” listings on search engines. Basic SEO initial set-up is usually included in our web design packages as well as the initial submission for you to the major search engines.
